Emerson SPD SPD12Z
Function
The main functions of the SPD unit are: lightning protection and overvoltage protection.
The lightning protector adopts a two-level protection mechanism to realize two-level lightning protection on the line, which can effectively protect the internal circuit of the charging module from being damaged due to the induced
lightning strike and the overvoltage on the line, and improve the reliability of the system.
In important applications such as large power plants and high-grade substations, the system is required to have high reliability. Small substations and user substations are often located in the countryside
or mountainous areas, and the probability of lightning strikes is relatively high. For individual users, there may be grid quality problems, that is, overvoltage. The selection of lightning protection components can avoid
system failures caused by the above situations.
SPDs are divided into C-level and D-level SPDs, and their parameter indicators are different. The specific indicators are as follows.
Lightning protection index
Class C lightning arrester (VH40TA385M) Class D lightning arrester (SPD12Z)
maximum anti-lightning impulse current 40kA (lightning waveform 8/20μs) maximum anti-lightning impulse current 20kA (lightning waveform 8/20μs) rated
anti-lightning impulse current 20kA (lightning waveform 8/20μs) Rated anti-lightning impulse current 10kA (lightning waveform 8/20μs) interface
characteristics
The interface of the lightning arrester includes the following content:
z Three phase wires A, B, C, connected to the three phase wires of the AC power supply.
z Neutral line N, connected to the neutral or neutral line of the AC input power supply.
z The lightning protection ground wire PE is connected to the lightning protection grounding of the system.
z Alarm signal line (only provided by Class C lightning arrester). Provide the alarm signal of the action of the lightning arrester, and connect to the PFU-12 power distribution monitoring box or the monitoring unit PSM-E11.
Instructions for use
Lightning arresters need to be checked regularly. Especially in thunderstorm-prone seasons, users should check in time. The following checks should be made for Class C lightning arresters.
1. Regularly check the varistor window of the lightning arrester. The green of the varistor window is normal. When the window turns red, the entire varistor sheet should be replaced immediately.
2. The indicator light on the panel of the D-class surge protector indicates the working status of the surge protector. When any one of the three LED indicator lights is off, it should be repaired by power failure, and generally
the entire surge protector should be replaced.
Class D lightning protection device (SPD12Z)
maximum anti-lightning impulse current 20kA (lightning waveform 8/20μs)
